Janette's First Six Months

DSC_0733

What better way to spend your morning than with this kid?  This is the third opportunity I've had to photograph Janette, my colleague's newborn.  I have respect for baby photographers who manage to capture that one expression or pose. While she seemed interested in the camera, her interest was typically accompanied with a blank stare.

In celebration of being six months old, her mom and I met early Saturday morning and walked down to our local beach.  We spread a blanket out on a patch of grass, with the painted park bench as background.  Using a diffuser between Janette and the morning sun (camera left), we shot for about 45 minutes before packing up.

DSC_0766I've wondered during each session if I would really get anything interesting.  Or what if Mom just didn't like any of the images?  When she was a newborn, I had a tough time getting a natural look and I barely squeaked by with a few decent photos.  This session; however, I breezed through and got some fun images, thanks in large part to Janette being a bit more active.  More images from the first two sessions here.
